8/7/2020 - Overnight Parking Ban Extended To Additional Two Streets

The Mayor and Council is hoping to combat ongoing concerns near the Westmount Village Apartments with ordinances aimed at overnight parking and subsequent litter issues.

Approved at the June 17 meeting, the first ordinance banned all parking overnight (from 2 to 6 a.m.) year-round on Lookout Lane and increased the fine per violation to $100, up from $60.

As the ban has resulted in an increase of vehicles overnight on other nearby roads, the governing body aims to extend the parking ban by introducing an ordinance to prohibit parking on Pershing Place and Kay Road, both also with a $100 fine per violation. Introduced at the July 22 meeting, if it is approved on second reading at the Aug. 19 Council meeting, it will go into effect around Labor Day.

Should any residents of these three affected streets have a hardship, such as not having a driveway or a medical necessity, an overnight parking permit may be issued by the Police Department.
