2/22/2019 - Noise study will be conducted by NJDOT for Interstate 80

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has responded to a letter from Mayor Keith Kazmark regarding the need for sound barriers along I-80 west and east where the highway impacts Brophy Lane, Vernon Court, Greenway Lane and Glover Avenue.

A highway improvement project from Hackensack to Riverview Dr. in Totowa is currently in the Preliminary Engineering Phase.

The letter noted that all four streets have been approved for the required Type I Noise Study and that, should the roadways qualify, an appropriation for design and construction of the sound barriers will be made by the State and the barriers would be included in the planned project.

"This is very good news," Mayor Kazmark said, noting that talk about barriers on these roads dates back to 1999 in protecting the area's residents from noise and air pollution.  Added the Mayor, "There is no doubt in my mind that these four streets will qualify."
