12/2/2021 - Uzzalino sworn in as Chief of Police while four other officers are promoted
Woodland Park has a new Chief of Police, John Uzzalino, along with a new Deputy Chief,Lou DeLuca, Captains Michael Brady and Jeffrey O’Brien, and Lt. Danny Russo, who were all promoted at the Dec. 1 Council meeting.

“The future of the Woodland Park Police Department is in good hands,” Mayor Keith Kazmark said. “It was an honor and privilege to promote each of these deserving officers tonight." "Rest assured," the Mayor pledged during his remarks, "You have the full support of the Mayor and Council and our entire community.”

Chief Uzzalino assumed the Acting Chief position on March 20, 2020, just one day before the state's COVID-19 initial pandemic shutdown.

“I could not be more proud of Chief John Uzzalino for leading this department through one of the most trying periods in the history of the West Paterson and Woodland Park police departments,” Mayor Kazmark said. “He led this department through the pandemic, the likes of which we have not seen in 100 years.”

John Uzzalino was hired in March 1995 after attending the New Jersey State Police Academy, Class #191 for Municipal Police. Through his tenure, he has served the patrol division, as a school resource officer, juvenile officer, detective, tactical team leader, and firearms instructor. He has held the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and provisional chief. A lifelong resident of the Borough, Uzzalino attended the local school system and graduated Passaic Valley High School in 1989.
