The Office of Gov. Phil Murphy, on Nov. 26, announced that the Borough would be receiving a municipal aid grant award of $484,500 for the McBride Avenue Streetscape - Section 7. This funding would take the project work from Dowling Parkway to Whippany Avenue.
The streetscape project began in 2017 at the corner of McBride Avenue and Glover Avenue. When complete, improvements will have been made along the entire stretch of road to the Little Falls border.
The streetscape has been completely funded through a series of State and County grants. Work on the remaining phases will again be underway in 2020.
The goal of the streetscape project is to make the thoroughfare safer, smoother, more business-friendly and pedestrian-friendly. Improvements include Americans With Disabilities Act compliant barrier-free curb ramps, detectable warning surfaces, decorative brick pavers, decorative lighting, new street signs, new driveway aprons, plus trash and recycling receptacles and planters.
