New trees are being planted throughout town, utilizing a $40,000 fund created from monies provided by the State, in part, as a result of the removal of trees for the NJ Department of Transportation's Route 46/Route 3 project.
The fund is being tapped for new tree plantings at no cost to taxpayers. Trees have been planted in the parks and around the local fields.
Thanks to this funding, the Borough was also able to remove tree planting from the work bids put out for the McBride Avenue Streetscape phases, saving grant money to allow for additional streetscape improvements.
The Department of Public Works has done all of the plantings in-house and will do additional plantings this fall.
