Mayor's Messages

9/7/2021 - Wednesday is the first day of school!

While we all wish we were closing out our summer on a more positive note after the impact of Hurricane Ida on our area, it is still very exciting that our children will be back in their classrooms tomorrow on the first day of school. The last 18 months have been a challenge from COVID-19 to the most recent weather events. But we are ready to open our schools, and that is a testament to the Board of Education, administration, and staff here in Woodland Park.

Starting tomorrow morning, we ask that you keep alert during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times in the areas of our Borough schools to keep our kids safe.

Expect significant traffic and congestion around our school buildings, as they are opening at full capacity for the first time since March of 2020, with additional students and staff at each of our schools.

Charles Olbon School will also have an additional 75 preschool students in the building (on a temporary basis until the second Pre-K Center is opened). Parking will be extremely limited and in most cases you will need to park in the neighborhoods in and around our schools.

Please give yourself extra time and be patient.

On behalf of the Council, I wish our students, teachers, staff and families a successful school year full of learning and fun!
